KLC College’s Child and Youth Worker program prepares you to provide frontline treatment service to troubled and disturbed children and youth. You will receive specific education and skill development related to child management techniques, family support interventions, therapeutic relationships, designing treatment programs and working within multi-disciplinary teams.
This diploma program includes classroom and placement experiences. The practicum or work placement portion of the program can run concurrent with the other aspects of the program, or it may be completed at the end. You will be required to participate in a supervised setting where best practices in Child and Youth Work is demonstrated, modeled and reinforced.
You will learn about physical and cognitive development, social development, about behaviour disorders and effective communication skills.
