There is tremendous opportunity within BC for tourism after the global challenges of the past few years. BC is poised to resume its status as a key driver of economic success across the province as areas outside Vancouver’s Lower mainland once again becomes a world-class destination for many activities, such as river rafting, kayaking, mountaineering, skiing, camping whale watching, scuba diving, and wine tours.

Tourism & Hospitality Programs 

Hospitality Management

Students who study this program will be prepared to pursue successful careers at hotels, cruise ships, excursions, wineries, and various other attractions in the tourism and hospitality industry.

This program is the most robust of all Sprott Shaw’s hospitality programs and encompasses material included in the Hospitality Operations with Co-op Program with additional training in management, digital marketing, social media, and online engagement practices.

By the end of the program, graduates will have earned a multitude of certificates and credentials including Serving It Right, Guest Service Gold, FOODSAFE, START Certified Restaurant Server, START Certified Front Desk Representative, START Certified Guestroom Attendant, HFIA Hotel Industry Analytics, AHLEI Rooms Division Specialization, AHLEI Sales and Marketing Specialization, and AHLEI Diploma.

 

Hospitality Operations with Co-op

 

During the Hospitality Operations program, students will develop the required knowledge and skills to understand the current trends in the hospitality industry.

The program includes opportunities for students to learn and practice revenue management, front office, housekeeping management, hotel restaurant accounting, supervision, convention security and loss, and contemporary marketing and sales strategies.

In addition to being certified as a restaurant server, students will also be certified as a front desk representative and guest room attendant as well as earn two additional specializations – AHLEI Rooms Division Specialization and AHLEI Sales and Marketing Specialization.

 

Hospitality Services with Co-op

During this entry-level hospitality service program, students will build and develop their general knowledge of the hospitality industry.

Students will also gain essential workforce entry skills including Serving It Right, Guest Service Gold, and FOODSAFE as well as receive their Restaurant Server Credentials.
