The Pharmacy Assistant diploma program at Medix provides graduates with the skills and knowledge required to qualify them for entry-level positions in pharmacies, pharmaceutical organizations or hospitals and work under the supervision of the Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacist. 

Responsibilities of a pharmacy assistant include ordering and receiving inventory, filling prescriptions and processing paperwork.

The program also explores the body’s systems by focusing on structure, function and terminology.  Students will also learn medical prefixes and suffices, abbreviations, trade and generic drug names, strengths and dosage forms.

The off-site practicum component gives students first-hand experience and allows them to begin putting into practice what they learned through the comprehensive program.

  • Brampton
  • Scarborough
  • Toronto

The Pharmacy Assistant program is also available in Brantford, Kitchener and London at Westervelt College.
