Personal Support Worker

Personal Support Workers (PSW) assist with tasks of daily living and provides services in long-term care facilities private homes and day homes.

The Personal Support Worker courses at Herzing College will train you to develop a broad range of abilities that are needed to provide for the safety, comfort and well being of your clients.  You will learn how to:

• Provide general hygiene services
• Check patients for bedsores, bruises and other surface wounds commonly associated with bed rest.
• Assist patients to use mobility aids
• Assist in the lifting of patients
• Ensure patients take their medication
• Prepare meals and shop for food
• Ensure patients stay hydrated and maintain a healthy diet
• Perform light housekeeping duties that are in direct relation to the client’s care
• Assist with patient transfers
• Identify safety issues for patients

Accreditation

The Personal Support Worker Program is accredited by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC). 

Herzing College’s PSW program features the following certificates:

• First Aid and CPR
• Elder Abuse Prevention Training Certificate
• Certified Food Handler Certificate
