A Medical Lab Assistant is a valuable member of a Medical Laboratory team, who must maintain a high level of accuracy in their work. If you are science oriented, meticulous and are able to follow strict protocols, a career as a Medical Laboratory Assistant may be right for you.
Medical Lab Assistants collect blood samples and provide patients instructions on how to collect various body fluid samples for testing.
Throughout the Medical Laboratory Assistant courses at Herzing College you will learn:
- About Human Anatomy and Physiology
- To communicate effectively with patients and other health care professionals
- How to accurately maintain documentation
- Lab safety measures and how to use and care for laboratory equipment
- About specimen collection, storage, transportation and analysis
- How to perform common lab test accurately and record results
Medical Laboratory Assistant Program Accreditation
The Medical Lab Assistant program at Herzing College’s Winnipeg campus is accredited by the Canadian Medical Association.
Students who graduate from a CMA accredited program can earn a certification through the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science.
