Students in the Medical Lab Technician/Assistant (MLTA) program are trained to acquire the skills and competence in a variety of medical lab techniques to work under the direct supervision of a Physician, Registered Medical Technologist or other health care professional.
Graduates will be eligible to write both the provincial (MLPAO) and national (CSMLS) exams to gain industry certification in the field.

Areas of expertise include clinical chemistry, hematology cytology, microbiology and histology. The program also includes training of office skills such as patient data collection and insurance claims processing.
Graduates of Medix College’s Medical Lab Assistant/Technician program are qualified to write an examination to achieve their Certified Lab Assistant designation through the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) as well as the Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Association of Ontario (MLPA).
Medix College’s Medical Laboratory Technician/Assistant program is a part of the Medical Laboratory Professionals’ Association of Ontario (MLPAO).
