If you would like to work as a front line health care worker providing health care services to patients in hospitals, nursing homes or a home care setting, the Health Care Aide diploma program at Herzing College in Winnipeg will provide you with the knowledge and practical skills you need to gain employment.

As a Health Care Aide, you will assist nurses, physicians and other medical staff in the care of patients/clients with their personal care, nutrition and mobility.

Herzing College’s Health Care Aide courses provides instruction in anatomy, physiology, human development, social and cultural issues, as well as the communication and health care skills that are required of a health care professional working as a health care aide.

Courses in the Healthcare Aide program cover:

  • Human anatomy and physiology
  • Infection control and safety
  • Nutrition
  • How to recognize stress and abuse issues

You will also participate in a clinical practicum where you will apply your knowledge and skills in a health care environment
