The Early Childcare Assistant diploma program at Medix College of Healthcare is designed to equip childcare workers with the skills, knowledge and experience for employment as assistants in day cares and early learning centres, working under the guidance of an Early Childhood Educator.

What you Will Learn in the Classroom

As part of Medix College’s Early Childcare Assistant program, you will learn to work collaboratively with teachers to deliver Early Learning Programs. Modules cover a range of topics including:

• Collaborating with teachers in planning, developing and implementing daily activities that support the development of children

• Assisting children in lunchtime activities

• Completing reports, observation checklists and developmental checklists

• Maintaining on-going developmental records for each child

• Attending staff meetings to discuss progress, address any problems with children and offer possible solutions based on your knowledge of each child

Through case studies, simulated daycare environments, role play and in-class discussions, you will also learn the responsibilities of an early childcare assistant.

The Early Childcare Assistant program has been development and accredited by the National Association of Career Colleges (NACC) and provides the foundational skills for graduates to move into an Early Childhood Education program.
