TD Scholarships for Community Leadership are awarded to students in their last year of high school or CEGEP (in Quebec) who have demonstrated leadership in improving their community.
The Dental Assisting diploma program at CDI College in Alberta will prepare you to work in Dental, Endodontic, Orthodontist, Pedodontist or Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon's Office’s.
This Dental Assistant program covers the foundations of dental care, oral pathology, pharmacology, and dental radiography. You will learn how to prepare patients for treatment, assist dentists during treatment, process radiographs, perform infection control procedures, maintain patient records, and perform other general administrative duties. You will also learn about environmental health and safety and oral facial science, as well as other core dentistry subjects.
The Dental Assisting program consists of an 80-hour practicum component working with a dentist in private practice during Phase I. This unpaid work experience is a mandatory diploma requirement.
Successful completion of this comprehensive Dental Assistant program will lead to a career as a Certified Dental Assistant. A Certified Dental Assistant is a qualified, licensed, oral health care professional that provides crucial support and patient care services under the supervision of a licensed dentist. Certified Dental Assistants are regulated under the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA) By-Laws and must be registered and licensed by CADA. Graduates who successfully complete this program are eligible to apply to sit the written National Dental Assisting Examination Board (NDAEB) Certification Exam.
Since it’s implementation in 2007, graduates of CDI College’s Dental Assisting program have a passing rate of between 97%-100%.
The Dental Assistant program is offered at campuses in Calgary and Edmonton.
