Radiologic Technologists usually have a bachelor’s degree while a Radiologic Technician usually has a certificate or associate degree in radiologic technology, depending on the state one lives in and their requirements. Both degree tracks usually include clinical and classroom training focusing on courses in anatomy, pathology, imaging evaluation, physics, equipment, and safety procedures
State laws vary regarding certification, but many employers ask for certification.
How to Get Certified
You will need to have at least an associate degree in radiography from an accredited educational program. Before you enrol in a radiology technology program, ensure that the school’s program is accredited or meets the criteria providing the required training to write the certification exam through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
A radiologic tech can also become an MRI technician after they get some on-the-job training and successfully complete an accredited MRI technology certificate program.
