Working as a barber offers flexible hours, a chance to be your own boss and you can go anywhere and take your career with you. It’s important to be a people person though, as your day does consist of chatting with your customers.
A barber's work involves not only performing a precise haircut, but also performing various techniques to the face and scalp. A Barber trims, cuts, shapes, and tapers hair using scissors, clippers and razors. They also often provide custom shaves, and facial hair maintenance.
Both are considered professionals and may be licensed under the same governing body, but there is specific training required for each. They not only receive training in cutting and shampooing hair, but also in straight-razor shaves, beard and moustache trims and more.
