Payroll Diploma Information

The Business Administration – Payroll program at Sprott Shaw College will give you that skills and competencies that companies count on to save them time and money.  Specifically, you will learn:

• Accounting principles including double entry bookkeeping
• Bookkeeping tasks such as Accounts Payable/Accounts Receivable, reports and financial statements
• Inventory control
• How to use SAGE 50 (Simply) Accounting
• How to prepare bank reconciliations
• How to create spreadsheets, organize and analyze data using Microsoft Excel

The payroll courses will cover:

• Payroll Compliance and Legislation
• How to calculate payroll, prepare a Record of Employment (ROE) and prepare remittances to the Canada Revenue Agency
• Payroll Reporting and reconciliation
• Human Resources functions such as recruitment, orientation, regulation and legislation

Upon successful completion of course requirements, graduates can complete and submit an Application for Certification to receive their Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the National Payroll Institute (formerly the Canadian Payroll Association).
