Barbering has a long history and developed from early tribal beginnings into the profession that it is today.  Barbers of yesteryear did not require the skills they do today.  Many males now undergo some of the same hair treatments that used to be reserved for women, so today’s barber must know all the latest techniques in cutting, coloring, highlighting, shaving and creating designs. Barbers, like hairstylists, must also be knowledgeable and aware of the products now available.

Saint John Barbering Program Info

  • The Barbering course at Eastern College’s Saint John, New Brunswick campus is approved by the New Brunswick Registered Barbers Association
  • Graduates of this program will be eligible to write the New Brunswick Registered Barber Association examination
  • Upon passing the New Brunswick Registered Barber Association exam, you will be able to practice as aregistered apprentice barber

Students will also participate in hands-on training at a barbershop.
