Substance abuse counselling is a rewarding profession and there is a growing need for qualified individuals to work with people who are struggling with addiction.
Addiction Worker Program Overview
This program, which includes an internship, will give you a solid foundation to work in a variety of settings. Students will also receive:
- Training in applying the principles of addiction, pharmacology and structured relapse prevention planning
- Training in intake assessment, motivational interviewing and treatment planning
- Case management and professional ethics training
- Anger & Stress Management Techniques
- An introduction to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
- CPR/First Aid Training
The Addiction Worker program includes an 8-week Internship
The Addiction Worker program at triOS College is recognized by the Canadian Addiction Counsellors Certification Federation (CCAF) and have been approved by the CACCF Curriculum Review Committee.
