Denturism

You are here

A denturist in Canada is a dental health care professional who along with dentists, oral surgeons, dental hygienists provide dental care to patients.  While the name implies they make only dentures, they also design, make and repair other dental appliances such as mouth guards and night guards.

At Oxford College, the Denturism program follows the guidelines of the Denturist's scope of practice and prepares graduates to write and perform the clinical examination for registration by the College of Denturists of Ontario (CDO). You will gain the theoretical and technical knowledge need to evaluate, diagnose, design and fabricate dentures and other dental appliances.

Denturism Program Focus

  • Measure patients’ jaws to determine the shape and size of dentures needed
  • Make gum, jaw and teeth impressions
  • Design and make dentures as well as direct others in the construction of dentures
  • Fit, modify or repair denture
