All types of businesses across the country rely on accounting professionals to manage their finances and transactions. Especially in times of economic uncertainty, accounting remains crucial and so do individuals in this career field. Those with an in-depth knowledge of bookkeeping procedures, accounting software and payroll, will remain critical to those businesses.
One such program in the accounting and finance field is Accounting and Payroll Administration (APA). There you’ll study bookkeeping and financial accounting, payroll compliance legislation, payroll fundamentals and computerized accounting software. In many college programs you'll also gain valuable hands-on experience during a practicum placement in an accounting firm, payroll department or corporate office.
As a graduate of one of these programs, you’ll meet requirements for the Canadian Payroll Association’s payroll certification programs – the national standard of excellence in payroll administration.
